DAY TWENTY FOUR - GUESS WHOS BACK!

Back to the homeland... Santa Fe for the looooong weekend. We have two days worth of holidays because like Rio in Brazil it is Carnival this weekend in Argentina!!! Wahooo naked people running in the streets, feathered hats, fancy footwork dance moves, water bombs and flour throwing, four day bender of boozing and running ramped in the streets...
hahah nope, maybe you might expect to see this kind of carry on in Brazil, but here in Argentina there is not a fiesta to be found (just one in a name of a place  I cannot spell or pronounce)... they are wise and just take the holiday! pools and party's for me!

DAY TWENTY THREE - "WE MAKE A VERY GOOD PARTY"

Three Argentines, two Frenchies and one Kiwi (a brown flightless bird not a fruit)
Our Argentine host informed us, when wanting to party in BsAs you have three options as follows:

Lost in translation, Spanglish, what ever the meaning of this Spanish spin on the English language is, it has left me lost without words.. "rare nighted place", perhaps this is some kind of meat themed bar? - maybe there are dance moves such as the Rare Beef Sizzle?!
What ever these kinds of bars/partys are - all I know is I had to get it in signed in writing and I want to go to all three places at once! (I shouldn't laugh because at least he can speak English, so please raise your glasses to the host with the most!!! and I know he is going to get me back when I try and attempt to speak any Spanish... )

where did I put my porkchop earrings?

DAY TWENTY TWO - I SCREAM

I SCREAM

AND YOU SCREAM

WE ALL SCREAM...

FOR ICE CREAM!!!!

ARGENTINE EXPERIENCE TOP 10: NO 4
ice cream

Make my heart melt down the side of the cone and wipe me up with your napkin!
Argentina's cows must know how to hold a party ( because right now I imagine extreme festive activity out in their paddocks) because the milk these freaky deeky cows are producing is next level!!! and that creamy luscious milk adds for a delectable ice cream, which will freeze your brain like never before, paralysing you with its taste bud tingling flavour sensation!!!

Milk, milk , lemonade round the corner fudge is made...

don't die before you try!

Fatty boom batty - their ice cream is my heaven

DAY TWENTY ONE - WELCOME TO ARGENTINA

"I love its chaotic ways and it unpredictability, so charming"

These words I may forever choke on! I finally found out what the locals meant when they say to me "but you don't know Argentina". Today I went to collect a parcel (not any old parcel, my b'day present from parents) that had been stuck at customs. Here is a brief run down of the days joyful activities!

2.5 hours travel
2 locations an hour apart
4 offices
12 steps to complete, going back and forth between offices
5 hours waiting in lines
21 forms and receipts to sign and pass on
3 taxes to pay
$300 customs tax
$400 Airport tax
$300 holding tax
$100 buses

Total spent $1100.00 pesos

I rang an Argentine in disbelief  and their response was just "WELCOME TO MY COUNTRY"

On the bus ride home, starving, and busting to pee I opened my $1100ARD box of anticipation....

Talk about turning a frown upside down in an instant! In the next moment I had Almond Gold chocolate smeared all over my face and tears of joy streaming down my face as I read a handwritten birthday card from my mum! money shmoney... this lil puppy was worth every cent!

DAY TWENTY - MY FIRST DAY OF WORK

One weeks work - teaching English.
Note to self: I have a Kiwi accent and apparently it is incredibly hard to understand so I must remember to open my mouth wide and speak slowly…Today was my first day of relieve teaching English for a week “Now go in and teach” - eeeek shiver me timbers!

How exactly do you go about teaching a class with no prior knowledge or prep? I have to now teach for six hours whilst simultaneously mastering the art of teaching conversation. Peace of piss right?

Piss… not a bad thought, perhaps I should have liquored up for this one? - I could have rambled my wee heart out then, not sure it would make sense, but I would be some what entertaining! But… lucky I choose the path of sobriety as otherwise I would have most likely ended the session asking some very inappropriate questions, dancing Cumbia on the table top and/or falling asleep before my 6 hours of teaching was up! it would've been one hell of an afternoon but with no job prospects for the future!

First day done and dusted... now quick google “how to teach conversation in English”

Money I withdrew when I began this blog
 $700 ARD = $244.85 NZD
I still have $358 ARD left of that and it is burning a hole in my pocket ( I want to buy, spend, consume! Surely I deserve a b’day present to self?)
Left in my bank $755 NZD

Not leaving!

DAY NINETEEN - MUCHAS GRACIAS

When I grow up I want to be a Molfino just like you! and you and you and you and you and you and... well who is not a Molfino in Rafaela? and who doesn't want to be a Molfino? but which one? If I had the choice of which Molfino I'd choose to be.. I'd pick... wellllll... all of them!

So before I move on to talk about mouthwatering dribble-tastic subjects like ICE CREAM, I want to say a GIANT THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE MOLFINOS! Especially Maria and Mario for welcoming me into their home with open arms and stuffing me so full of fantastically flavoursome food that it was almost impossible for me and my newly expanded waistline to fit through the doorway when I left!

P.s. Today I returned to the big smoke, the city that doesn't sleep aka the Latin American New York... BsAs, BA, Buenos Aires. But I am still Molfino addicted, so addicted that in fact the very couch that I write from now belongs to... The most beautiful sole daughter of the Molfino's! yes you read it here first lady's and gents, the Molfinos have invaded Buenos Aires! so now I can still get my doses here before I return home again to the kingdom, the enterprise, the HQ in Santa fe!

P.p.s. yes I know they are all bronzed babes, but damnit Janet they are all spoken for!

P.p.p.s no, those two blonde, american looking people are not blood relatives.
They are indeed Americans, but as far as everyone is concerned they are Molfinos!

P.p.p.p.s. yes they have a pool
