When was the last time you managed to scramble yourself out of bed after watching 3 episodes of Gossip Girl in a row on a hangover, only to find A. your lunch is waiting for you on the dining table, followed by dessert and coffee and then when you return to your bedroom B. to find all your dirty laundry has been picked up and replaced with a recently washed, dried and ironed stack of folded clothes on you freshly made bed!!! Yes it is what dreams of made of! Thanks to you South America and your fantastic employment of maids. How did I go from having a backpack full of dirty clothes, crossing countries wearing my underwear inside out to make it last in between handwashed washes - to now having everyday, the option of a vast array of sweetly smelling, clean clothes to select from?! I love you Kuki (even if I sometimes find it hard in spanish to find the right words), you make my life complete! Completely lazy that is! Still I love you!

What is this? A hoax? An incomprehensible irony? Or simply a lack of respect?
ReplyDeleteWhat is that?

¿ES ESTO UNA BROMA DE MAL GUSTO?
Una ironia que no comprendo...
O simplemente una falta de respeto...
¿Que es?

what do you have a problem with maids? With keeping people in employment, having someone care for your home and your family, helps raise your children, a beautiful human who eats with you every lunch, jokes around with you and who (our language barrier aside) keeps me company in the days. Someone who is a very integral part of this family? This post was a way of me trying to find a way to thank Kuki for everything that she does for me every day.
ReplyDeleteSo I am sorry if you read into this something sinister or unjust
having a maid is a reality in Argentina and I think there is nothing bad in this, Kuki has helped this family of 6 children grow up to be the fantastic family that it is. I am just joking around with Kuki like I do in any other post. Soooo lighten up, life is a beautiful thing.
